In addition to our regular monthly donations, Charles County Project Linus is at this time collecting blankets for our annual donation to the TAPS program. TAPS is an acronym for Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors. This is a program for children who have lost a loved one in the military during the past year. Throughout the year, we collect patriotic colored themed blankets to be donated to this program, which has a special event in Washington, D.C. every year during Memorial Day weekend. These can be red, white, and blue colors, any patriotic fabric .... these children also love the camo blankets, so those are also acceptable.
We also use these blankets during the year if there is a special request or any other appropriate need.
If you have blankets to donate to the TAPS program, please drop them off to one of the bins no later than Tuesday, May 9, drop them off at The Clark Center any time, or bring to the May 12 meeting with you. If you drop off, please be sure the bag is marked Project Linus and include your contact information so we know who they are from. Also, if they are for TAPS, please indicate so on the bag.
